WHO HEALTH WARNING - SARDS HITS CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES
Friday, November 6, 2009 (New York, NY)
It seems that swine flu is not the only contagious disease hitting US shores this year. SARDS, sudden acute replying deficiency syndrome, has shown up in several US cities, most notably New York City with a high concentration on the Upper West Side in the low 80s. Like swine flu, SARDS has a long incubation period. In some cases, SARDS remained dormant for over 3 years. Symptoms include an inability to respond to phone calls, text messages, facebook posts and event Twitter “tweets.” In severe cases, individuals have reported spacing out, needing to say “I gotta go,” and walking away mid conversation.
Doctors have confirmed that SARDS, while annoying, is not life threatening. Symptoms usually last for 1-2 weeks and disappear with no lasting effects.
